Lessons from Orpheus Island

Pioneer, Spider Mangrove at Orpheus Island (c) Michael Smyth 2016

We have just returned from a week's workshop at the James Cook University research station on Orpheus Island, North of Townsville on the Great Barrier Reef.  This is an annual event run with the extraordinary Les Walkling, supported this year by Doug Spowart and Victoria Cooper.  The emphasis this year was on book design and making, with one on one tuition with the presenters as well as formal lectures and presentations.  This workshop was a great way to enhance our skills and image processing techniques, plus some special work on printing.

We have enough material gleaned from the week for several workshops and presentations.  Keep a look out for workshop dates for 2017
